Ow!

I've been hesitant to go jogging over the last few days as my left knee has been sore. It hurts when I press on inside of the knee on the lower part of the joint. It also bothers me when I walk so I'm limping a bit. I should be resting it but I work on my feet for 11 to 12 hours at a time so that's not happening.

This is really annoying.

The Statistics:

Aerobic Steps: 11992
Time Jogged: 1 hour 13 minutes
Calories Burned: 370 kcal
Fat Grams Burned: 27.9 grams
Distance: 4.95 km

Notes: Included stairs in running regime.  Schedule didn't allow for another run last week.  Andrea pointed out that I could go for even a 1/2 hour and it would be something on days where I'm busier.  I agree.

Fat Grams Burned: 25.8 grams

Notes: Included stairs in running regime.

(Edit: [livejournal.com profile] atomiks just pointed out tot me that I was using "mitigating" incorrectly here as the stairs make the run harder, not easier. See this link for details.)

I ran/aerobic-walked 9779 aerobic steps this morning. I just discovered this new feature on my pedometer. It only counts the steps when the frequency is higher than 60 steps per minute and the duration is longer than 10 minutes.

I jogged for a full hour, though the pedometer registers me having done 72 minutes of aerobic activity. I apparently burned 316 kcal or 23.5 grams of fat. I covered exactly 4 kilometers of distance though [livejournal.com profile] atomiks only guessed my stride length at 41 cm so I'm not sure how accurate this stuff is.

I'm thinking of going out again tomorrow morning but I'm not sure if I should be resting a day between jogs.

I used my new pedometer.  I ran approximately 7800 steps and for 55 minutes.

Thank you and good night.

I just got back from a 50 minute jog.  Now, I'm jogging for time, not distance, so I wasn't going very fast but I did fifty minutes!!  I'm pretty pleased about my progress.

I do have issue I'm not sure about and maybe [livejournal.com profile] doc_mystery can answer my question. If anyone else has an opinion, I'd like to hear it.  How many jogging sessions before you start seeing a reduction  in your abdominal girth?  I'm watching what I'm eating and trying jog in such a way to keep my heart rate in the 140-150 beats per minute range.  I want to lose my pot belly and I would like people to stop pointing my stomach out to me.

I went out for my third run this morning.  I was feeling pretty good so I increased the time to 36 minutes and 30 seconds before stopping.  We'll see how I feel tomorrow.

Yesterday's D&D game went very well though I did get some complaints about the lack of magic items.  I'm hoping that the players will happier once they get further into the adventure.  I'm pleased that they seem to be getting into the little intrigues I've set up and they've even suggested a possible future adventure to me though I am uncertain that they meant to do that.

I hope we play again soon.

Thus, I hopefully begin a new chapter in fitness. I bought new running shoes specifically designed for my sorry feet over the weekend. Last night, I tried them out with a 30 minute jogging session.

I jogged for the full 30 minutes and went through University of Toronto campus and Queen's Park. I did not stop until the full 30 minutes had elapsed. I'm very proud of myself. The shoes were great. I did not get my usual sore shins and ankles I've had in the past.

Of course, today my legs are sore, specifically my quadraceps. I imagine tomorrow they will hurt even more. I have to get through this initial annoying painful part. I plan to go again Friday evening and will try to go at least three times a week or every second day.

Wish me luck.
