There are literally millions (maybe billions) of games available for your smart phone or tablet. Recently, I’ve been playing a few of them to pass the time, mostly in an attempt to not read the news or get sucked down a rabbit hole of social media nastiness (that’s a post for another day…). I enjoy quite a number of the games on offer (hidden object adventure games, matching tile games, and puzzles, for example). However, I find I uninstall a lot of them after a few days as they begin to annoy me in various ways....

I like reading The Guardian and I like articles by Richard Stallman. Imagine my surprise to see an article on The Guardian written by Richard Stallman! It actually turns out that he has written for them a few times already but it was news to me...

I mainly do this out of being a complete nerd rather than any sort practicality....

I've decided some months back to move my blog off off of the WordPress site and on to my own domain under the same title, The emporium of lost thoughts. At that time, I posted an entry, A New Url for My Old Blog, explaining my reasons for the switch.

ACTA in a Nutshell –

What is ACTA? ACTA is the Anti-Counterfeiting Trade Agreement. A new intellectual property enforcement treaty being negotiated by the United States, the European Community, Switzerland, and Japan, with Australia, the Republic of Korea, New Zealand, Mexico, Jordan, Morocco, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, and Canada recently announcing that they will join in as well.

Why should you care about ACTA? Initial reports indicate that the treaty will have a very broad scope and will involve new tools targeting “Internet distribution and information technology.”

What is the goal of ACTA? Reportedly the goal is to create new legal standards of intellectual property enforcement, as well as increased international cooperation, an example of which would be an increase in information sharing between signatory countries’ law enforcement agencies.
