It's kind of sad...
May. 9th, 2005 11:36 amHow many times have I had this conversation with a customer?
Patient: I'm really, really sick with this cold. I need to feel better.
[Q & A ensues which allows me to determine the correct cold medication for the patient based on his or her allergies and other medications]
Me: Well, this will help you but getting some rest will help you get over this cold quicker. Is there any way you can take a day off work?
Patient: No way! I'm too busy to be off work.
Either, these people work for complete bastards or they have an inflated sense of their importance. Since when has working become more important than your health? Someone once told me that the graveyards of the world are full of people who thought they were indispensable. Every time I have this conversation with someone, I'm reminded of that.
Hey everyone, please look after yourselves. Your boss certainly won't. In fact, he or she will probably step over your still-warm corpse to call in someone to replace you.
